Employees are expected to promptly report all unsafe working conditions, accidents, and injuries regardless of how minor, to their immediate supervisor. Prompt reporting enables the company to correct potential hazards, ensure that injured workers receive treatment, and timely process worker's compensation claims. Failure to immediately report unsafe working conditions, workplace injuries, or accidents may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
The company prohibits any type of retaliation against any employee or student for reporting a safety concern or violation of this policy or for cooperating with a related investigation.
Emergency Care -
Any medical emergency should be handled by the nearest EMS agency. Call 911 or any other established emergency assistance number. Direct a specific person to call 911 and advise for emergency assistance. Any deep cut, significant soft tissue injury, broken bones, strains/sprains, cardiac, or other serious injury or illness must be treated by a physician. Immediately summon help as directed by this plan.
Medical problems of an emergency or non-emergency nature may be handled at the closest appropriate medical facility.
First Aid/Minor Injuries -
First aid for minor injuries may be obtained by self-help or with the assistance of an instructor who has First Aid training. First Aid Kit(s) and AED(s) are available in the office location.
- If trained and/or able, instructors may give assistance and First Aid to the injured/ill employee, or student.
- Do not move individuals with suspected spinal injuries, (e.g., falls from ladders, motor vehicle accidents, and serious trip and falls).
- When a situation involves blood or other bodily fluids, do not touch the fluids without proper barrier protection. Barrier protection is available in the first aid kit.
- Notify your immediate supervisor or the Company Safety Officer of the injured/ill person.
- The Company Safety Officer must investigate the circumstances of the emergency to help prevent further injuries.
Workplace Safety Notification Procedure
The company requires employees to immediately notify the company whenever they find a safety issue or there is an employee or student injury while they are working for the company. Any injury must be reported within 24 hours and the following procedure must be followed when reporting and injury or safety issue.
- Treat the injury. If necessary take the employee or student to the emergency room, or call 911.
- Immediately notify your Campus Manager and Lead Instructor (if applicable).
- If there is a needle stick of an employee or student, there is a separate procedure concerning this.
- All injuries or safety concerns must be reported within 24 hours. This is done by completing this form.
- Your Campus Manager must be notified within 4 hours of any injury that involves 911 or hospitalization.
