Purpose

This SOP outlines the process for helping students complete Texas Radiology certification and obtain their Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license.

Scope

Applies to Academic Advisors supporting dental assistant students pursuing licensure in Texas.

Definitions

• Human Trafficking Awareness Course: Required state course for licensing
• NPDB Self-Query: Background check report required for RDA application
• Voucher Code: Code used to register for the Texas Radiology exam
• Texas Radiology Exam: Required exam for RDA eligibility
• RDA License: License issued by TSBDE to practice as a dental assistant

Responsibilities

• Academic Advisors: Track student progress, order and distribute voucher codes, send reminders
• Students: Complete externship, take exam, submit licensing documents

Procedure

1. Trigger Condition

• Student completes 40-hour externship requirement

2. Order Voucher Codes

• Request codes for upcoming classes
• Order extra codes beyond class size

3. Distribute Voucher Codes

• Assign code to student after externship completion
• Send via automated HubSpot email or manual template

4. Provide Licensing Instructions

• Send instructions for exam and RDA application
• Include guidance materials and walkthrough resources

5. Student Exam and Application

• Student completes radiology exam
• Student applies for RDA license
• Submit required documents including NPDB report

6. Ongoing Follow-Up

• Send reminders to students
• Monitor completion progress

7. Compliance Updates

• Notify compliance of fee changes or updates

Completion Criteria

• Student receives voucher code and instructions
• Student completes exam and licensing process
• All required documents submitted
• Licensure process successfully completed
