What happens if I miss class because of illness or hospitalization?

This article explains Zollege’s medical absence policy, including how students can report illness-related absences, submit documentation, pause enrollment and payments during recovery, and return to class without being automatically dropped.

Life happens. Zollege has a clear medical absence policy that protects your enrollment when you're sick or hospitalized. Follow the steps below to report an absence, pause your timeline, and get back on track.
Step 1 — Notify your Academic Advisor right away. As soon as you know you'll miss class, contact your advisor by phone or email so they can flag your account.

Step 2 — Submit a Retention Ticket within 5 business days of returning to class. Open the Student Portal and attach documentation: a doctor's note, hospital discharge summary, or urgent-care visit receipt. The note only needs to confirm the dates you were unable to attend; it does not need to disclose your diagnosis. We protect your privacy and never share medical details with instructors, classmates, or externship sites.

Step 3 — Recover without losing ground. Once approved, your medical retention pauses your drop timeline (so missed classes don't count toward an automatic drop) and pauses your tuition payments while you recover. When you're cleared to return, your advisor will help you build a make-up plan, usually catch-up assignments plus one or two scheduled make-up classes.
Step 4 — Already missed more than 4 classes? Don't give up. If you haven't submitted documentation yet, contact your advisor immediately. Drops can often be reversed if you act within the same term.
