How do I schedule my Radiology / RDA exam?
This article explains when students can schedule their radiology exam, how to register based on state requirements, what study resources to use, and what to do if there are registration or testing issues.
Your radiology exam - typically the state RDA permit test or the DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam - is scheduled after week 8 of in-class instruction, once your instructor has signed off on your competency checks.
Step 1: Confirm your state's testing provider with your Academic Advisor - requirements vary by state. Oklahoma students, for example, register at Rose State College's radiation testing portal; Colorado uses DORA; Texas uses TSBDE.
Step 2: Study using the practice quizzes in your Student Portal under Radiology Prep and the printed safety manual provided in class. Most students pass on the first attempt after 6-8 hours of focused review.
Step 3: Register on the testing provider's site, paying with your voucher code if eligible, or with a credit card and submitting the receipt for reimbursement. Bring a government-issued photo ID and your voucher confirmation on test day.
Most states allow a free second attempt within 30 days if you don't pass the first time. If the testing provider's site is down or your registration is rejected, email your advisor and include a screenshot.
