What is the Indiana State Licensing Process?

This article guides you through the steps of your state licensing if it applies to your state specifically!

What: Radiation Health & Safety Certification        
When: Upon completion of the program

What does the processing look like & when do they get/hear back: 

  • In class, the designated instructor will hand students a permit application to practice radiography then these will be mailed to the State
  • Once these have been received by the state, permits will be mailed to the students within 2-3 weeks.
  • During class, students will get an Application of Proficiency Certification for Limited Radiographer - original copies are to be turned in for submission before graduation. The school will submit this application along with its radiography certificate from the school to the Indiana State Department.
  • The student will begin filling out the RHS application - No school code is needed.
  • After applications are filled out, they are mailed to DANB to be processed.
  • Applications can take 2-4 weeks to be processed.
  • Students will receive results in 2-3 weeks from the exam date.
  • Once the student passes, DANB will submit their test results to the Indiana State Department of Radiation Health & Safety. The state will contact the student and provide them with directions on how to apply for their Limited Dental Radiographic License.

If permits get lost or unclaimed, students can go to the State of Indy site to pull up their permits. (click here for the permit site). Zollege will reimburse students the cost of the RHS exam, but the student must submit their payment receipt and proof of passing within 60 days of graduation.
